2023-02-01

The board meeting of Confucius Institute for Business at Matej Bel University (CIB at MBU) was held successfully online on 31 January, 2023. Slovak Chair, Mr. Rector Vladimír Hiadlovský of Matej Bel University (MBU), the newly elected Chinese Chair, Mr. President FANG Hongxing of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE), and the board members, Mr. Vice-president WANG Xuhui, Mr. Antonín Ovšák, Madam Dean DENG Lili, Madam Andrea Balková, Madam Slovak Director Gabriela Nafoussi, and Mr. Chinese Director WANG Jianwei, attended the meeting.

The board acknowledged the progress and the achievements of CIB at MBU during the past year, reviewed the annual and financial report of 2022, and approved the work plan and budget for 2023.  With discussion, the board reaches broad consensus to meet the needs of CIB development on a wide range of issues, and agrees unanimously to renew the contract of cooperation.

The board believes that, with the ease of the COVID-19 situation, Year 2023 is going to be thriving, so we can benefit from the face-to-face classes and make better use of the advantages of our two universities; some projects can also be expected to get realized physically. All this will help our two universities, MBU and DUFE, to cooperate in a wider scope and to a fuller fledge. CIB at MBU is not only a platform for our two universities, but also a platform for educational, cultural, economic and trade exchanges between China and Slovakia.

The board members exchanged good wishes and look forward to meeting physically with the end of the pandemic. After the board meeting, Mr. Rector Hiadlovský welcomed the newly arrived Chinese teachers.
