On Nov. 14, the Confucius Institute for Business at Matej Bel University (CIB at UMB), and the Windows of Shanghai of the State Scientific Library of Slovakia at Banská Bystrica (SVK at BB), organized a cultural event showcasing Chinese tea culture. The event was bilingual in English and Slovak, with on-site consecutive interpretation by Ms. Mária Onderufová, who’s in charge of the Window of Shanghai.

The tea culture event coincided with the visit of a delegation led by FANG Hongxing, president of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. Thus, the whole delegation was invited to the event. Besides President Fang, they are: DENG Lili, Dean of the School of International Education, TAO Shuo, Director of the International Office, and WANG Mang, International Coordinator of International Chinese Education Center.

During the event, Director WANG Jianwei provided a detailed explanation of “The Tea for the Season”, specifically, two different types of tea for winter - Black tea and Pu'er tea in general. During his lecture, Director Wang posed some questions to the audience, and the audience responded positively, some of whom won the prizes that the DUFE delegation had brought all the way from China.

CIB teachers ZUO Hang and WAN Shiqi demonstrated the brewing methods of two specific brands of tea for winter, accompanied by the melodious guzheng music played by Associate Professor WANG Yan. Miss ZUO and Miss WAN served tea to the four distinguished guests and other participants of the event. The room was full of the fragrance of tea, and the tea drinkers were full of praise for the tea. The true essence of “warmth in nature” diffused in the room among the tea drinkers.

By the end of the event, Director Wang answered the questions about tea of the participants. He expressed our gratitude to the four distinguished guests for their presence and paid tributes to Mária and all the staff involved in making this event possible. The event ended in the aroma of the tea for winter.
